Quilt Shack       

 My name is Mary Le Grand.  I was born in     Dubuque Iowa and raised on a farm north of   Dubuque in a small farming community called Rickardsville.  At the age of 12 I started sewing clothing.  I was fascinated with the sewing machine and tried all kinds of fabric and sewing techniques.  Dave Smith and I partnered in 1992 and started a sewing machine business.  He does the repairs and I do the sewing and teaching.  In 1994 we relocated our store and added quilting fabric and notions.  And of course I wanted to learn the quilting business so I started sewing quilts.  We expaned our store twice since then and now I'm located along highway 20 and still sell sewing machines and added teaching quilting classes also.  Dave has his own Oreck vacuum store and I have part time help in my store.  It is a wonderful business.
